More than 100 member states have already made this request at the WTO.

The aim is for more companies to be able to manufacture corona vaccines.

Important countries of origin of the pharmaceutical industry, however, reject the initiative. The US has also been against it so far.

Through the NIH research institute, Washington owns the rights to an invention that is considered a prerequisite for modern mRNA vaccines from the manufacturers Moderna and Biotech/Pfizer.
